low light not good

This camera is just OK. I just use this for everyday basic pictures and it seems to take good pics. My only complaint is in low light. Like at concerts etc. Forget about it. I don't even bother taking pictures at concerts unless I am on the first row (which is never). You can't even see the image. It actually does a bit better if you have the flash off! Imagine that! But I bought the energizer rechargeable batteries and they work great! Not a problem at all! The sport mode actually takes great pictures that are in motion. I took pictures while I was moving in the car, and they turned out great! If someone can suggest how to get better pics in low light, I would appreciate it!
