Battery use pretty crazy. But there is a fix.

I got this camera on closeout for a hundred bucks.
My first digital camera, so I didn't want to drop a massive amount of money and blah blah blah. I have to say the battery life is disapointing. I only get around 10-15 pictures at 5.0 mp before the batteries are drained. And I can't get the camera to work with 1.2 volt rechargable batteries. It won't even turn on with 1.2v. I can only get it to work using generic brand 2100mah 1.5v AA's at 4 dollars for a 4 pack. So it still costs me around 12 bucks to take it on a trip for two days.
Then I figured out that the LIVE VIEW feature that lets the LCD screen on the back be used as the view finder can be turned OFF. When you do that the battery life is significantly improved and the regular viewfinder still works great.
Since I have used regular cameras for so long I don't really need the digital helper boxes that live view offers so I really like this little camera now that I have gotten past the battery issue. At this point though I'd say shop around some more and make sure you find out about battery life FIRST before anything else.
I will probably replace this camera in the next year just because of the battery life issues.
