Kodak is really particular on battery power - chiefly, you want batteries with an mAh of at least 2500 to handle the high energy needs of your camera. And Kodak cameras in particular tend to work poorly with lower energy alks.

Kodak does seem to set-up their cameras to be very picky about batteries. The NiMH battery recommended for this camera by Kodak has 2700mAh capacity. This camera will not work with regular AA alkaline batteries. It is calibrated for high capacity NiMH rechargeable batteries only.
