Camera turns off - Message "High Camera temperature"?

The camera shows the yelow/white introduction screen- then reads the memory card or internal memory if card is removed. The black screen comes up for Auto general picture taking. The camera then gives message "High Camera Temperature" and turns off. I have tried new batteries - a few different types - no change. I have taken the memory card out - no change.

Sandra,

You might try contacting Kodak about this issue. It could be a connection issue in the battery compartment. Good luck.

Andrew

You should try to press the shutter button before the error message comes. This will force the camera to make a picture and operate properly afterwards. Good Luck.

I am glad that my advice was helpful for you. Don't mention it :).
I would like to add that i had the same issue with a CX6230 camera, which did not start at all. After packing and unpacking the whole camera, i managed to start it with the error message that you encountered. I assume there is a problem with the firmware(the software that drives the whole unit) now (or the temperature sensor of the CPU is broken), since by packing it i could not have left any connector in air. Therefore, if you still have warranty for your camera, you should use that to fix or replace it.

Okay I have the a similar question for the same camera. My mother-in-law gave me her old cx6230, she says it was left out in the sun and that the battery casing, the part that closes over the batteries is melted. I get the camera home and it's not melted but has been dropped and the latches are broken, but when I fixed that the camera does not turn on at all, any answers as to why that is. Should I use a specific battery type with these cameras? and if i should put the camera in a shop what is a good place to send it?

I have a Kodak EasyShare Z740 with the same problem. I e-mailed Kodak and never got a reply. As long as I don't use the flash or try to zoom in, I can take a picture or two. Since I can't use the flash it takes longer and most shots are blurry.
