I'm assuming the card is still blank (no pictures on it); so go into the camera's Setup menu, and choose the option to Reformat card. Sometimes the memory card just needs to be formatted inside the camera before they will work together.
Be careful doing this at a later stage, though, as the Reformat also erases all your pictures!
If this does not work it's very possible you got a bum card, and you should return it for another one. But this should work.
