Don't buy Kodak

( - 10/27/04) Had this camera for 18 mths and from early on it didn't always power on straight away. I am very careful with electronic goods and have never dropped it and have always housed the unit in a padded pouch. I thought it may have been my fault ie battery power low. I would retry a few times and it would eventually come on and then I would recharge the batteries. Then one day it would not power on at all. Out of warranty of course! Sent it back to Kodak (it cost $45 before they'll even look at it) and they say uneconomical to fix. They suggest a CX model at A$290. I didn't go ahead. Instead bought a Canon Ixus and am very happy. I would advise anyone not to buy Kodak. I have researched this and many others are having the same problem. They are poor quality parts and consumers are paying for it. I did not expect this from an icon company like Kodak. They must know that there is a problem with this model (and maybe others) and they are not accepting responsibility. I will never buy Kodak goods again.
