I love this camera... Will not "upgrade" till the bitter end

(shoe - 8/29/06)

I love this camera. We've had it 3 or 4 years, and we're actually afraid to upgrade to a higher megapixel camera because we honestly don't believe the picture quality would be as good. Colors are sharp, pictures are clear, and it is very forgiving of everything except shaky hands.

That being said, the movie mode is kind of dumb, except for action shots (we've used it once, on a whale watch, as it was the only way we could get the whale's tail). Also, now that the camera has four years or so of heavy use behind it, it seems to be a little bit slower in "recovery" time after snapping a picture. However, what piece of technology is still cutting edge (or works?) after four years nowadays?

Battery life is kind of short, and it will give you the "needs new batteries" indicator light after four or five pics, but you can get a lot more than that out of the camera before the batteries are totally dead.
