Great value

( - 6/19/06)

I've had this camera for over 2 years, and it has worked like a champ... no major problems to speak of. A couple of minor things:
(1) The lens cover sometimes get stuck when turning it on, opening just a crack or not at all. No biggie, as I can just touch it lightly and it pops open.
(2) In movie mode, the lighting sensor (or something?) seems to have some problems adjusting. It will alter the colors as if it can't decide what color or shade its looking at - very strange. That's not a great description, but I don't know how else to say it.
(3) Movies are output as .MOV files - QuickTime format. No other option.

Other than that, its a decent camera and I haven't had any problems with it. I would like to see more options, or better software controls, but what's there is workable. For example, I don't like when I press the Delete button, and it asks "Are You Sure?", and defaults to "No". I wouldn't press Delete unless I want to delete! Unless you have King Kong thumbs or something, you can't press it accidentally. So that means I have to press the button, scroll up to "Yes", and click it — 3 steps — to delete one picture. They could do it in two if it defaulted to "Yes" instead of "No". Or, maybe camera software should implement the trash can, and make it one step to delete, and then a separate command to empty (or recover) your deleted photos. But I digress.....

Anyway, this was my first digital camera, so I don't have previous experience with any other. It's come down in price since I bought it, and given that I've had no problems with power, battery/MC covers (they are a bit flimsy, but I open them carefully), picture quality, or much else besides the little things I mentioned, I would certainly buy another one.
