I have owned this camera for about 2 yrs and just now have problems turning the knob to the different settings/on and off.

Physically? Well, it may be that it just needs a good tuning up. Or a good cleaning. You may some dirt/gunk in there that's causing the knob to have trouble turning. A can of air may be able to blow it out. Or some alcohol on a qtip. I'd clean up and see if that does it. Then send it in for a good cleaning.
