terrible action shots indoors

Indoor sporting events are always blurred or dark if i use the action mode. What am I doing wrong???

Even in action mode, the camera still has to focus and click before it saves the picture to file. What you can do is prefocus, pan with the action, and use the flash to freeze the action - if you're close enough. That flash has a very limited range, so if the action is outside 10 feet or so, the flash is no help. Also try using a tripod/monopod to minimize camera shake.
