Takes good images, easy to use, poor low-light performance
( - 4/8/05)This camera is great for daylight photography. Vacation or any kind of outdoor photo-taking would result in great images using the DX 7590.
The colours are crisp, lively and no need for much fuss with the settings. Just use auto.
Indoor photography needs a bit of work. The lighting as well as flash distance must be considered carefully. Too near the subject, and the flash will make for bad contrasts and sometimes reflective effect.
After a few tries, the most basic users will know how to gauge the distance and use the zoom to take closer shots instead of stepping in and letting the flash ruin the picture.
Proper use will result in great results again.
In low light, this camera suffers the most. It can only go up to ISO400 in 5mP mode (800 only for 1.8mP mode). So light sensitivity is an issue.
If you want to take stage performance photos, DO NOT use this camera. I take about 100 photos each performance, using the biggest aperture, the slowest shutter speed possible without blurring the subjects, at ISO400, and still can only use 3 or 4 pictures, which are the ones properly exposed/sharp enough for use.
All in all, a very good camera for beginners. It takes very good, high quality images. Poor performance in low light may suggest you get a proper dSLR that can go to ISO800-1600 with ease.
