The Lens has been knocked out of alignment. Did you drop it? You could try cycling it on/off several times to see if you can work it's way free and back into alignment, but if you start hearing a grinding noise, stop. Then, your best bet is to send it in to Kodak to have it looked at.

Be advised, however, that if it's out of warranty, it may cost more to repair than it is really worth. The rule of thumb is that if the estimate for repair is north of 50% what you paid for it, you're better off taking that money and buying a newer and upgraded model.

Also check your batteries for being underpowered or near dead.

If it turns out you want to try and fix it yourself, here are directions: http://camerarepair.blogspot.com/2007/12/fixing-lens-error-on-digital-camera.html . But, as James said, try and get it fixed under warranty if you can. But if its either get it scrapped and buy a new one, or try a do-it-yourself repair, might as well try.

Well, since this camera is more than 6 years old, it's a very good chance that the warranty is long gone, and it'll probably be cheaper to buy a new camera rather than pay to have it repaired. THen, you can try the do it yourself option and if it works, you have a backup camera.
