Is there a digital Point and shoot (equal to ot greater than 6.0MP) with a single lense with focal length equivalent to a 18mm - 80mm zoom?

... or the closest match, the most important being the wide angle end of the focal length...

Please note that an 18-80 zoom, on a 1.5 factor camera (most D-SLR units in reasonable a price range), is equivalent to approximately 27mm in 35mm camera terms.

Therefore, the Kodak P880 does, in fact, have a wider angle of view than most kit lenses which come with D-SLR bodies.

Panasonic Lumix FX50 is an ultra compact camera, in a range you mention being interested in. It does go to 23mm equivalency at the wide end. Other than that one, there are very few, if any, non-D-SLR cameras which go below 28mm at the wide end.
