What are the differences in the Kodak P712 & the P880?

I am looking for a good camera to take quality pictures, but do not know enough about the cameras to make a decision between the P712 & P880. I definately want a camera that will eliminate red eye if possible. I do want to be able to shoot quality pictures with excellent clarity & color. Can anyone help an amatuer like me.

Well these are pretty large cameras. I would recommend something more like the Sony w100 which takes great pictures, has red eye reduction, and image stablization. Plus it can fit in your pocket and is very easy to use.

Depends on the focal length range that you want. The P800 is very wide to moderate telephoto (24mm to 140 mm equivalent). The P712 is moderate wideangle to very long telephoto. Image sharpness is better with the P880. I personally prefer a very wide angle option and the sharpest possible shots, so I opt for th P880. We have a P880 and often use it in preference to our larger Sony R1, which has a similar 24-120 mm focal range. We really like the handling of the P880. BTW - Always use the RAW file format option - JPEG compresses too much in all modes for best image quality. Also, be sure to get get enough exposure on the sensor - the P880 gets noisy when images are underexposed.
