Video in point and shoot cameras isn't really all that great. It's a marketing feature designed to give the user the impression they are getting more bang for their buck. But in reality, the audio is abysmal, you can't really zoom while shooting the video, and quality is about youtube at best. For a little more, I'd take a look at the Kodak Z1085IS. It has the added benefit of being able to zoom while shooting, can shoot in widescreen, and even in 720p HD. Not too shabby. My only beef in testing it is no viewfinder. But the batteries seem to hold up pretty good in spite of having to power the LCD full time.

great, and thanks a lot. I bought a casio z77 sr on sale ($139.00), due to its high qulity video format, but will have to return it, cos one cannot be able to edit the clips, ie. to combine files that add up to 10 minutes (per you tube req.). So will probbly get this canon a570 is , after the getting good reviews and also the video quality, but also the crispy still pic.

You mean because it shoots in MPEG-4 H.264 Video? That isn't that bad. It's compressed, sure. But it can be re-encoded and edited in the right software. Some edit it directly in Quicktime. But that isn't as easy as a regular editor. I've heard of a software called womble mpeg video wizard, which supposedly works well with H.264.

But I think your instincts to return the Casio is a good idea as I've read many complaints about Casio's quality.

yep thats it, I rather get a reliable named camera like canon. In fact I just played around my office's canon A520 (2004) and took some clips and up loaded in the computer, its very good quality output, was amazed. And we have been using/beating the crap of this camera since day one, and its still works great. So yeah i think for the long run, canon is the way to go, but in the review i keep coming across issues about i the poor battery life. It appears the cameras optical assembly need some fixing.
