Kodak's suggestion is what I would have recommended but if you are saying that it still isn't working then it is possible that it is simply too dark. Does anyone else have this problem?

Try this when it is near dark, dusk, and see what it says. Post back if you get a chance.

That clearly indicates lack of enough light.

I too have had this issue, and unfortunately, there does not seem to be a "fix" for it, other than lighting and tripod. I was very disappointed to see this setback with the camera. Again, your situation may improve if you use a tripod, but honestly I find that the night setting is just bad.

I have used the Z612 with good results. To fix a low light situation go to manual and widely bracket your exposures and it should cure your problem. I have had good luck with night shots. I hate the lack of a hot shoe for flash. The pop up is just too short ranged for me. Other than that I have captured some very crisp and colorful images still and video. the ability to turn a video frame into a .jpg file is wonderful. It's like shooting both at once if you don't want anything hi resolution, it'sa snapshot thing. Over all it is as close to a DSLR as you can get if flash is not a concern. It is a very decent video camera with stero sound as well. I would rate it 4 1/2 stars, 5 if it had a hot shoe!
