Can anyone tell me why my z612 lcd screen is black while the camera is on?

My camera turns on, but the lcd screen is black. I can see information on the screen, but I can't get a picture to come out. Any suggestions?

Have you got the EVF selected? (Little button on the back in the upper-left hand corner). Verify by looking into the viewfinder. Or, do you have your USB cable plugged in?

I have checked and the EVF is not selected. Like I said before, I can see some information on the viewfinder and the LCD screen, and I can take a picture, but I can't review the picture because it takes a black picture.

Uh-oh. Is it set to auto on the top dial when it does this? Or, have you got another mode set?

It's set at auto and I still don't get a picture. I think I'm gonna have to send it back to Kodak to get it fixed. Anyways, thanks for your help; it's greatly appreciated.

Is it under warranty? If not, I'd suggest you get an estimate from them before you do. I've heard some real horror stories about the repairs costing more than the owner of the camera paid for it.
