Good to start with...
(sigamhsoupw - 5/30/09)...but leaves things to be expected. I 'm rating it 4 stars mostly because of the good price. But things must be cleared. I dont care about the poor perfomance and I appreciate more the powerful zoom and the fair image quality than the reviews I have read in the web. Overall its a nice camera with weaknesses such as macro shooting (you have to be REALLY patient with the focus to get a REAL macro-sometimes trying to focus more that 10-15 times, or else you end up shooting macros at 15 cm which isnt that good), often purple fringing and despite the IS, shaken images when shooting in full zoom. In addition, z8612 is a lot energy consuming meaning you always have to carry more than 1 battery on you.
Other than that, you CAN shoot amazing pics say at a zoo that more expensive cameras would be jealous of. If I had in mind only the pic results, I would rate it with 3 stars, but this one costs almost 40% less than other good cameras with similar specs so I guess the price makes the z8612 almost a bargain!
