can i use Ni-MH/Ni-Cd type rechargeable batteries?

Actually I had Li-Ion Battery charger, but some how it's broken so now i can't use it.
And I'm going camping and need to take many pics.
Can I use Ni-MH/Ni-Cd type rechargeable batteries??
I bought it from Radio-shack.
It says it fits most digital cameras and other high drain devices.
Is it ok if i use it instead?

No. You can NOT use NiMH OR NiCd rechargeable batteries in this camera per Kodak's website.
This camera will only accept Lithium batteries of three types:
1) The Rechargeable Lithium sold by Kodak and others (but your charger is broken)
2) The CRV3 NON-rechargeable lithium battery
3) 2 of the AA Lithium NON-rechargeable batteries

Though it says you can't use rechargeable batteries, I'm pretty sure you can. I've heard from a lot of Kodak users that the Energizer Lithium rechargeable batteries work just fine. I'm not really sure if there are any issues, though.

Kodak cameras seem to be very picky about which batteries they accept. It appears to be due to the slightly different voltage discharge curve between Ni-Cd, NiMH and Lithium. This can trick the camera into thinking the NiMH batteries are too low when they are in fact still well charged. The odd thing about that to me is that they are aware of the complaints and do nothing to resolve the difficulty.

Maybe they consciously do nothing to solve the problem. After all, if you could pop in some AA rechargeable batteries, why would you need to buy the Kodak rechargeable batteries. Maybe this isn't their "true" intent, but keeping proprietary technology in their hands is a good way to make some bonus profit on accessories. Take a page out of Sony's book.

Can I recharge the battery this camera came with by connecting the camera to my Dell (XP) using the USB cable or do I have to purchase the Dock?

You can use Ni-Mh batteries but you need to recharge very often. The recommended KLIC-8000 battery is 3,7 volts and 2x1,2 volt NiMH makes only 2,4 volts so the camera will shut down when the NiMH batteries are down to 80% or so with a slight voltage drop. NiMH works OK for indoors or daytrips in my camera but not so good for multiple days without recharge. The lack of optical viewfinder makes it hungry for power as the LCD is operational all the time.
