Kodak is pulling out all the stops with the Z1275, hoping to regain a little buzz after last year's disasterous C-series meltdown. They've certainly got our attention. Check out these specifications: 12 megapixels for increased definition and bigger digital prints, an above average 5x optical zoom, and most interestingly, a movie mode capable of taking High Definition videos.
We've written about HD Digital Cameras, or Camera/Camcorder Hybrids before, so we're definitely intrigued now that Kodak is moving into this arena. The initial specs for the Z1275 indicate 720p recording, at 30fps, with the ability to record up to 80 minutes of video (memory card and battery life permitting). We'll be keeping an eye on this camera, to see if it can put up a decent fight against cameras like the Canon TX1 and Sanyo HD-2.
See how it stacks up against the competition:
| Camera | Resolution | Frame Rate | Recording Time | Format |
| Kodak EasyShare Z1275 | 1280 x 720 | 30 fps | 80 Minutes (Using 2GB SD Card) | MPEG-4 (MOV) |
| Canon Powershot TX1 | 1280 x 720 | 30fps | 13 minutes (Maximum Clip Length) | M-JPEG (AVI) |
| Sanyo Xacti HD2 | 1280 x 720 | 30fps | 84 minutes (Using 4GB SD Card) | MPEG-4 |
| Sanyo Xacti HD1a | 1280 x 720 | 30fps | 84 minutes (Using 4GB SD Card) | MPEG-4 |
| Panasonic Lumix LX2 | 1280 x 720 | 15fps | 32 minutes (Using 4GB SD Card) | M-JPEG (MOV) |
