How do I restore picture download from the A2 to PC?

My Dell Dimension XPS is about 3 years old and has Windows XP. I used to be able to just plug my A2 digicam into the XPS port and turn it on and it would download the pictures. We had to clean up some firewalls, with McAfee's help, and now I can't download the pictures from my camera anymore. I try to use Windows to add a camera, but Konica Minolta isn't listed as an option. Do I have to reload the driver from the Konica Minolta site? There's an upgrade there, but don't I have to get the basic version first to restore functionality?

Try checking sony.com for the drivers you need- since Minolta stopped making digitals in March, Sony has taken over all tech support for Minolta cameras and may offer the download you need.

Your Windows XP has gotten messed up.
If you connect the camera it should see it as a mass storage device and allow you to move/copy photos from it to your hard disk.

If that fails buy a card reader (about £3.00 UK - $5.50 US)

and put the CF card in that to read the photos.
This is the prefered route in my opinion.

Regards
