Hi Pauline,
Take the card out of the camera and look at it- there may be a small white tab on one side of the memory card itself. The tab can be pushed into the Locked or Unlocked position. Slide it into Unlocked and you should be good to go.
Let me know if that isn't the problem- not all memory cards have that unlock tab on them, but lately a lot of them do.
