Hi,

If it's a mechanical problem and not an issue with a setting that got changed somewhere in the camera, your only options are to take it somewhere for a repair or to junk it and get a new camera. Since a) it's over two years old and probably out of warranty and b) Minolta is no longer in the digital camera business (they were bought out by Sony), you'll probably have issues with getting a factory repair, which means going to a local camera shop, which probably also means a huge bill. Unless you really, really love the camera, it's probably not going to be worth it for such an out-of-date machine.

One thing you might want to try doing is a factory reset of the camera's settings. There should be an option under the Setup menu to "Reset to Defaults". Hit that and see if it helps at all. From what you say about pressing on the mode dial, that probably won't fix anything, but it's worth a shot. Good luck!

Sony does still do repairs on Minoltas, but like Ben said you may have issues considering the age of the camera. I'm sitting here wondering if WD40 wouldn't do the trick.
