The mode selector dial probably (emphasis on probably) pops off, but check for screws first. You're definitely in dangerous territory in disassembing the camer, so be careful.
Have you tried tapping the camera gently against something soft, like a book? Also, make sure the mirror lockup mode (not sure if the camera has one) is not set, for that would certainly do it :-)
