It's been a while since we've seen any significant announcements of new digital cameras, and though these aren't exactly revolutionary models, it is nice to see that manufacturers aren't just chasing the high-end or gadget-loving market; they still remember that some people just want simple, easy, point-and-shoot digital photography.

These new cameras from Canon and Kodak fit that bill perfectly. 5-megapixels, once the top of the heap, is now the lowest anyone will go, essentially rendering anything beneath that threshold inadequate and outdated.

The five cameras featured here are worth exploring if you're one of those people who wants hassle-free photography, if you're looking for a great gift for a young, budding photographer, or if you're new to digital cameras yourself. We'll keep you up to date on all the relevant information on the cameras as it becomes available. Right now, these cameras are expected to hit the street in February and March, though pre-orders are available through our site via Amazon. Check it out, you might find something you like.
