Battery problems

I chose the Nikon over other digital cameras because it uses AA batteries. While I knew that the rechargable nickel metal hydride batteries would work best, I wanted to be able to use standard AA batteries in an emergency. They have NEVER worked. This is a major disappointment. I won't buy Nikon again.
