Battery life and door issues
(Todd Vargo - 7/26/08)I had the same problems as others with this camera.
Rechargable batteries (2300mAh) don't hold enough charge to keep the camera on for very many pictures, and the latch on the camera body for the battery door to hook into, broke off.
After getting tired of using a rubberband to keep the battery door closed, I fixed it by drilling two holes in the camera body and epoxy glued a paperclip in to create a new latch for the battery door to hook into. Problem solved.
Rechargable batteries are 1.2 volts, not the full 1.5 volts of a AA battery. The camera requires 3 volts (or 2 AA @ 1.5v each) but two fully charged recharcable batteries only provide 2.4 volts. It's no wonder the camera keeps shutting down so early when using rechargable batteries.
Through this site I discovered there is a firmware 1.3 update that I hope will lower the voltage threshhold and fix the battery life problem. So far it seems like the update has solved the problem.
