Why wont the camera power on?

Tried with new batteries-no go!

Have you tried to turn it on with an AC adapter? If you can, then you still have a battery issue. Just because batteries are new doesn't mean they are good. If you buy batteries from bulk wharehouses like Costco, it's easy to end up with brand new, but dead batteries. I usually recommend people stick to smaller batches, and batteries designed for digital cameras in particular - like Varta.

A few other things to check are the "temperature" of the batteries. If they are cold, it can affect performance. Also, battery chamber cover may not be properly attached which could cause the camera not to work.

Absent that, I'd recommending contacting Nikon tech support about it.
