Try formatting it in the camera. If you succeed, then you should be able to read it. If not, google for a utility called FRecovery. Install it on your computer and place your memory card into a connected memory card reader (they cost about $10 or less). You should be able to recover it.
Cards will fail from time to time, especially with heavy use. Ways to minimize failure is to use a memory card reader to copy and delete all files.
