Great shots; Recurring Gear mechanism breaks
(Douglas Dersch - 9/3/06)I returned my camera as DOA when it arrived and received another new one. Now after 3.5 flawless years this camera's gear mechanism broke as well. The camera is capable of taking really great shots, but the gear mechanism will break and the repair is $200-300. My film based Nikon cameras are 15 & 20 years old and have never failed. Nikon probably has fixed this problem in their current cameras, but it looks like the ones that are a couple of years old all have weak gearing.
