greenish vertical lines and out of focus- is it repairable?

Everything is blurred and greenish - if any color is introduced it shows up as a smudge of the color still surrounded by green- worked fine, this just started when I went to take Christmas photos.... Any ideas?

Hi Mel,

Sounds like either a problem with your CCD (imaging sensor) or with your LCD (display). Probably the former, but either way, it's going to require a repair from Nikon. If you're still under warranty with it (doubtful, since it's such an old model), you shouldn't have to pay anything, but out of warranty they'll probably try to charge you an arm and a leg. You might be better off just upgrading to a newer, better model at this point.

You can reach Nikon's repair department here.

Good luck!

My LCD just failed with the purple and green underwater look. I have been doing research and it seems there is a recall on the 5700 with ccd chip errors.
Good luck

Mine did these things 3 years after I bought it. I went to the Nikon site and sent it in and they fixed it for free and FAST since there was a recall.

I had the same problem just happen with my camera - out of nowhere. Apparently they aren't ALL being recalled though, because Nikon charged $175 to fix the problem. Still isn't working as good as before.
