Very versatile camera and an affordable entry to the pro-sumer arena
( - 6/24/05)The first day out with this camera I took a shot that got into Vanity Fair as a full page spread.
This was only possible because the decent optical zoom and high resolution. I needed a camera that allowed manual settings and this camera fits the bill. One criticism is that - at first - the interface can be rather complex. My old Canon had all settings on a thumbwheel and two buttons for aperture and speed. The nikon has programmable buttons and deep menus to acheive the same result. However, programmable buttons give you the ability to set up your favourite "manual" modes very quickly. Shutter lag in full auto mode can be a couple of seconds, quite annoying but in fully manual mode the lag is almost none existant. A thumbs up from me all round, just read the manual!
