Classy bit of kit
(Rich - 2/9/07)After reading the manual 50 times and using this camera for nearly 2 years, I must conclude that its a stunning camera. Out of thousands of photo's taken, hardly any have been deleted. Probably got a 200% better hit rate exposure-wise than my very decent Film SLRs. The metering is stunningly accurate in even the most difficult situations. The image clarity is as good as any digital SLR, I'm sure, due to the largish ccd i suppose, And its half the size and weight. The electronic viewfinder takes a bit of getting used to, but I'm getting there, and the swivel LCD is great for macro work close to the ground
On the down-side, its hellish complicated to learn beyond the auto settings, difficult to use filters, and the auto-focus hunts terribly in poor light.
No longer a production camera, its well worth getting for buttons on e-bay second-hand, particularly if you can't afford a DSLR (like me) or need a lightweight all-rounder for travelling.
This is a classy piece of kit - if you're swithering and looking for something that won't let you down..trust me, go for it, or better still get the next one up - the 8800 with the extended zoom and vibration reduction.
