My question is how do I increase shutter speed to take pictures of things in motion. There is not a sports mode like on other digital cameras.

I just need to know how to take pictures of people and objects that are moving without it appearing to be a ghost image.

Set the camera for shutter priority, and select 1/2000 or 1/4000 of a second. Another help is to move the camera along with the action, plus this helps to blur the background as well.
