slightly above average camera

I bought the L1 because of the 5X zoom. I had a problem staright a way on the first day. I could not set the date and because of that it would not imprint the date on the photo. Before returning it to the shop the next day I tried again and this time it worked. I don't know why?. Another serious fault - the L1 struggles to focus at in low light conditions. It is not recommended for night parties. The 2.5" monitor gets a bit warm if it is on for a while. I think this is where all the battery power is consumes. The lens barrel is not made with close clearance. When it retracts it can take in dust with it !!!; Otherwise the camera seems OK.
