Is this a good camera? I am thinking about getting one.

I am interested in purchasing a new digital camera. I am considering the Nikon coolpix L4. How do you like this camera? Do you recommend it?

That's a hard question to answer. I think you'll be getting what you pay for, and you should be able to get it for ~$100. There aren't many function options for it, the picture quality is so-so, it's not an "ultra" compact, no optical viewfinder, etc.

As such, you'll want to play around with this before buying, to make sure you can live with its shortcomings. But for a cheap camera, it's worth purchasing. Just remember you won't be getting anything near top-of-the-line. Maybe check out http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/customer-images/B000EIDARS/sr=8-1/qid=1178625667/ref=cm_ciu_pdp_images_0/103-2631986-1747806?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&index=0&qid=1178625667&sr=8-1#gallery for some pictures.

Also not the best camera for low light. For good lighting, you probably won't have a problem taking very nice pictures, though.

My son received this Nikon L4 camera last Christmas (2006) from his Dad. I received a KodakEasy ShareC875 as a Christmas (2006) gift from my fiance. My son is constantly telling me how my camera is so much better than his. More functions, zooms out much further, better quality pictures. Every time we go to the same functions (RedSox games, Bruins, Sightseeing, etc.) he will ask me to take pictures for him with my camera. I love my Kodak! I use it constantly. My son's is in need of repair (the lens came out and pictures are coming out on orange side) as my camera is still running perfect.
