While many digital cameras come with propriety software to use to transfer pictures from a digital camera. They are usually by and large BLOATWARE. Kodak Easy Share software is a perfect example of this. And it's generally a good idea not to use the camera for anything other than taking pictures.
Go out and buy a memory card reader. They sell for under $10 easy. Then just take your media and connect it to the PC via the reader. Transfer is as easy as drag and drop.
To manage your images, I recommend Picasa2 by Google. It's an incredible photo management utility and it's free!
