Power shot SD 200 PC1102

Camera is a Canon IXY Digital 40, IXY is Japanese version of the Power Shot SD 200, PC 1102. MegaPix is about 3.2. Cost to repair is $190. Is repairing worth the cost?

No. There are many cameras that are new that would cost less and perform much better than your repaired Canon SD200. If you want to stick with Canon and SD format, consider the A430. For a smaller camera, consider the Nikon L4. Or consider these Cameras under $195 that take SD cards.

Thanks for the answer. I found Canon will repair this camera at a no details cost of $97 plus appropriate taxes. This seems worth it to me and I am heavily influenced by my desire not to contribute to electronic trash. For a camera that once cost 30,000 yen it seems a price close to $100 for repair from the manufacturer is worthwhile to make it close to new,
thanks.

Dale --

As my co-workers will attest, I am a raging environmentalist, so I am glad to hear that Canon is doing the right thing (although I suspect that in most cases they end up in a landfill anyway and get replaced with a refurb model).

But perhaps they salvage parts, and I am glad to know this and will try not to lead others astray :-)
