Screen is black with snow on it when I switch on. Other features work fine

Camera worked fine for a couple of months then suddenly just black screen with faint snow/noise. Can still play back earlier photos on sd card, go through all features on menu--just no image.

Paul,

When you say you can play back old images, are they on the camera or your computer? How many old images are on the card? You might try downloading all the images and removing them from the card to see if it works on a blank card. I hope this helps.

Andrew

I can play back from the SD card in the camera (and obviously on my computer) but the card was by no means full--I could take more photos (though they were all blank). I have sent the camera to Nikon but I have not had much luck in getting vendors to honor warranties in the past. We shall see.

It almost sounds like an issue with the sensor then. Good luck.
