Canon's A640 is from a line of cameras that have been blockbuster hits. Nikon's cameras are slowly recovering from a line that have been unremarkable in most respects. Looking at the reviews, some people have had problems with the Nikon P4 whereas the A640 gets consistently good marks. Nikon is a fantastic maker of pro photographic gear, but is struggling in the consumer market.
