Your best bet is to purchase an SD card reader for $10-20 and use that to transfer the pictures. Card readers solve a multitude of data transfer problems. If that is not an option, the first thing I would try is resetting the camera. Each camera has a different procedure, but most cameras can be reset by removing the batteries for several minutes then replacing them and turning the camera back on. If that doesn't work, then read in your manual under "reset" or "initialize" camera.
