Johnson,

This Nikon seems like a basic compact digital camera. The big differentiators are the slightly higher than average ISO settings (2000) which will help the camera perform better in lower light, but will add graininess. It does not have image stabilization or a lot of optical zoom though. You might look at cameras that come with these functions for some nicer options. If you want to stick with the Nikon line, you might try the Nikon S51c. It has the image stabilization function, the same resolution and a wireless photo transfer option over your home network. Good luck and happy shooting.

Andrew

I don't know much about the specs on this camera. All I know is that A) it takes good pictures for the amateur photographer, and B) the camera design is irritating. The battery/SD card slot has a poorly placed cover that slips open every time it is touched--and it is located directly where your thumb goes. I had the camera for about five minutes before that started to annoy me.

I got this camera as a present. It's pretty good, ideal for an amateur photographer like me. I guess my only qualms are that its really not the most user friendly camera (the controls need some getting used to) and there isnt any REAL image stabilization, and it lacks zoom. But i will still stand by it, i'd give it a B-.
