Canon S2 IS seems almost perfect. Several hundreds of user reviews herald this camera as outstanding. Oddly, its successor, the S3 is disappointing to users. I suspect the S3 is also a great camera, just not that much better than the S2.
Reviews for the Nikon S4 are slightly more mixed. DCHQ users seem hot or cold, but on the whole, this seems like a good camera. Nikon has a spotty record with their point-and-shoot models, but this one seems like a good bet.
