which is better better more optical or more digital

want to be able to zoom in a great distance if need be plus use macro, to be able to take more professional pictures. i used to use a 35mm with different lenses. i need help finding a camera that won't break me.

Please don't concern yourself with digital zoom. Honestly, it's one of the more pointless features on digital cameras. Here's the difference:
Optical zoom- the lens moves to zoom in on a faraway object before you take the picture.
Digital zoom- after you take the picture, you can go into Playback mode and zoom in on something that is too far away. You end up with a grainy enlarged version of your original photo; image quality depletes VERY rapidly.

IMO manufacturers use impressive digital zoom numbers to fool people into buying cameras. It can come in handy once in a great while but spend your real money on optical zoom.

With that said, if you're looking for a camera with lens that has a good zoom, it can get really expensive. But for mid-level pricing check out the
Nikon Coolpix S4... or any of these:
