I think the difference between each of the camera is very minute, usually one feature, for example the difference between the 51 and 51c is wireless capabilities. This camera probably has an additional feature that the others do not. Also, some camera models are made in different countries, this one is made in Japan, and will be more expensive than others you can find, such as the ones made in China. Though they're made in Japan, I believe they're assembled in a different country, maybe Mexico, which is where Sony assembles, if that information is important to you. Hope this helps.

IMO ,when it says "Made in Japan" means it's assembled and originated in Japan. Right?. Just like products that "Made in U.S.A. with parts from other countries like, China, Indonesia,Mexico, etc. therefore these are assembled here in the U.S.

It really just depends on the company... there is no real standard... Made technically means where the camera is manufactured... and some companies have both a Made in.. and Assembled in... but honestly it could be either/or, but generally the products are all made in Asia (because parts are cheapest there), and assembled in various placed south of the United States (because labor is cheapst there).
