What is the fastest point and shoot right now?

It is a pain to push the button halfway when taking pics of kids.

Point and shoots have shutter lag. It's a way of life. If you want to eliminate prefocusing, which will cut shutter lag by 80%, then your best bet is a DSLR - they have no shutter lag.

But according to CBS - "it's the Casio Exilim Pro EX-F1, $999 Fastest point-and-shoot - shoots 60 images per second! Amazing speed; can get 30 shots of one golf swing!"

But being Casio, the quality won't be worth writing home to mother about.
