It is not going to be easy to reproduce a painting 24" x 30" using Coolpix S700.
Your task will be much easier if you invest in a dSLR.
Don't let me discourage you though, if you want to have a go at it, there is no harm trying S700 on a few paintings, at the same time take the same paintings with a dSLR, borrow one if you don't already have it, and compare the results for yourself.
