My D200 has frozen on f22 on many occasions in all modes, aperture/ shutter priority, manual and auto. Has any other user experienced this?

This occurred throughout the summer (5000 to 6000 exposures) on several lenses. Turning it off/on a few times sometimes fixed it; at other times changing the lens worked. (Shaking and cursing it never worked.) Nikon would not look at it until I brought them a CD showing the evidence. I couldn't manage this until the fall at which time the problem had disappeared. During this time the built in fill flash would also not work; it flashed but the image on the sensor was way underexposed. This problem has also fixed itself. Has anyone else had this happen to their D200?

This could be an issue in the firmware. An update is available here.

Hmm, interesting. The update installed fine on Firmware version "B" (Changed it from 1.01 to 2.00, which is the update number) but wouldn't install on "A". . The manual is not very helpful. Perhaps "A" doesn't need to be updated. However, the camera works fine. I'm going to take to Nikon now and see what they say. It's still under warranty.

That's what I'd do. There may already be a fix in the works.

Thanks James,
I haven't had a chance to take it in to Nikon yet. Too busy with business concerns. But I will soon and will let you know what happens. And I do appreciate your continuing interest.

I finally got the camera to Nikon and they got the firmware thing fixed but since the camera was now working perfectly they of course couldn't comment on the other problems. I will continue to use the camera and if things go wrong again I will immediately read the card and get the flaws on a CD. That's what Nikon insists upon. Wish me luck.
On another topic, my VR stopped working on my 80-400mm lens and it is now being repaired under warranty. Has anyone else had problems with their VR function?
