Just to clarify....The Canon 40D does in fact have "live view" mode on it!! It is accessible by manual modes only and can be used only if you want to use it! The D300 is also a phenomenal camera, but like Andrew said it is $700 more and do you really need the extra 2 megapixels? I own the 40D and love it, but I love the Nikon platform a bit more due to its ease of use and user compatibility!! I guess it is all in what you are looking for in a camera!! Good Luck!!
