I have an F100 - will the lenses work with the D300?

I have two AF Nikkor lenses. A 28-80mm (1:3.5-5.6D) and a 70-300mm (1:4-5.6G).

The lenses from the F100 are interchangeable with the D300 body.

Absolutely. in fact, you can use lenses going back over 40 years (manual only, of course). that's the legacy of the Nikon system. And most of those older lenses are some of the best ever made.

Thanks for the input. I guess I was wondering if there are lenses that work better with the D300. I know I can use my lenses, but not sure if I would be able to utilize the features of the D300 with them. I am thinking of getting the 18-200 Zoom AF-S DX VR f/3 5-5.6 G ED. Would that be a better lens for the D300?

Well, there are some metering, focusing, and stabilization issues with the older lenses. If you can try getting the new lenses made specially for the digital SLRs. There are better lenses for the D300 as well, even older and newer. You'd ideally one something that has a smaller fstop value, so it will be more versatile.

Well, it depends on the age of the lenses. If they enjoy auto functionality, then some auto functions may be open to you. But it isn't a bad thing to just go manual with the older lenses. Not at all.
